A three-year contract with benefits was approved by a resounding majority of the Rochester Teachers Association(RTA) in New York.

As a way of saying thanks to employees and enticing them to stay, the contract includes benefits and bonuses worth up to $3,000.

Each of the $1,500 incentive checks will be made available for two years. It will go into effect on July 1 and last through June 30 of 2025.

According to the agreement, everyone who is a part of the RTA Teacher Bargaining Unit shall be qualified.

They can only receive the retention bonus if they are "actively employed" up until the last day of each academic year.

Another significant component of the agreement is wage raises. Until the agreement expires, annual salary increases will typically be 3.8%.

Separately, for the 2023–2024 academic year, employees who conduct in-service, design proposals, prepare curriculum, and administer tests will receive an increase in their hourly compensation from $35 to $39.

During the 2024–25 academic year, there will be a further $4 increase. For the 2023–24 school year, employees at extended day programs will get wage increases of $45 and $49, respectively.
